Guardianship/
Conservatorship
Our experienced attorneys have represented clients in guardianship and conservatorship cases throughout Oklahoma and Kansas. Sometimes adults are unable to make or communicate personal, legal and/or financial decisions to manage themselves, their property, assets or debt. They may benefit from a guardianship or conservatorship to enable others to assist them in these areas.
A child’s parents are the natural guardians of a child. However, if the child’s parents have died, parental rights have been terminated or the parents are not fit or able to care for the child, the court may appoint a guardian for the child. The court will give preference to the child’s relatives and ultimately will make a decision based on what is in the child’s best interests. If you are interested in a consultation to determine if a guardianship is necessary to meet the needs of a family member, contact our office.
